The Guild Wars servers will be running as long as there are people playing, they've said.

1. Guild Wars is a game designed with casual play in mind. Therefore, most people also play something else as time away from GW is not penalized.
2. GW and GW2 are two different games with completely different game play and, possibly, GW2 won't be liked by some players. 3. The Hall of Monuments, which connects the two games, can continue to be updated after GW2 is released. 4. Guild Wars is a great game. The complaints mainly come from people who have been playing it for years. New players and older ones back from breaks will keep the servers busy for quite a while.

I will still play for at least 5 years (when I spend for a game it has to really last a loooooooong time) aned I know about other people who will do. I just hope it will be enough people to keep the servers on. But, as others stated, there's still people playing very old games. Also things like the first NWN and RO

GW will be around at least another five years after release of GW2, probably forever.
Another thing to keep in mind is that all of the wonderful GW2 features will increase system requirements for players. So GW will remain as the game you play if your computer will not support GW2. Besides which, publishers would always rather sell two games rather than just one. |

I will still be playing the original as I will probably not be physically able to play the new game (lots of video games make me very ill to watch--vertigo stuff)....so I will still be here.

I'll be playing for a while definetley, i like the feel of Guild wars. and although i haven't played it yet, GW2 seems to lose that feel. It really is a completely different game .
anywho, they should be keeping up servers for a long time. Theres the festivals and the world of tyria in it's original form |

It's almost a definite that many people will still play guild wars post guild wars 2 and may be even more so after guild wars 2. I mean, I'm sure we all know guild wars 2 will be a big hit similar to guild wars 1 was/is and the many players that it brings who didn't play the original will have a high chance of wanting to experience the story 250 years before their guild wars 2 characters time.

I'm more than sure you will still see people in the original Guild Wars once GW2 launches, for the simple fact that the bandagoners who start with GW2 and not 1 will have absolutley no Idea WTF is going on an will want the GW1 bonuses that go into GW2.

There seem to be a lot of old school games with servers still alive and kicking. But no one can really answer this question for you with any game until you see it for yourself one year, or more after GW2's release or so. Like anything that eventually wears out, you usually stop enjoying it yourself long before it expires. In the case of games, which can have an emotional or sentimental impact on you for all the time you've spent training your character...etc.., it'll take a while before you stop enjoying it but rest assured, you will stop enjoying the game completely before it even dies off.
Just don't get stressed out about these things, enjoy the game while your enjoyment of it still lasts, thats what matters, no? |
